Origin Story

The story of Karesila: There is a legend as deep as the schooner sailing shipwrecks more than six scores in the past. Karesila was a sorceress was taken hostage by pirates. In a bold move, she escaped the loosely tied ropes on her wrists and ankles. She was lucky that the pirate that tied them was drunk, and very tired. She jumped overboard, and luckily was met by the calmest ocean waters she had seen in months. Karesila was able to swim to the nearest island. Alone on the island, weeks passed, then months. Although she could wave her hand and conjure food and water, she had no companion of the physical realm. She knew how to create a human for companionship with a spell she learned from her cousin, but it would take everything out of her, depleting her energy. Karesila rested and thought about what to do. She really missed her old horse friend, Nax, who she took care of back home. “Ah, now how can I bring my horse to me?” she wondered. She closed her eyes and listened to her ancestors for inspiration and direction. She then waved her hands in the air in a spiral formation, drummed up the magic from the Indian Ocean waves, white beach sand, and sea air, and chanted an “Nax exists here” three times. After a swirling wind whipped through her hair, she opened her eyes and Nax appeared before her! They spent the rest of their years on the island, running on the sand, playing in the water, and admiring the night skies.
